Canada Revenue Agency encouraged taxpayers to request changes to filed income-tax returns online instead of using paper forms.
The agency said most individuals already file returns online, but adjustment requests still rely heavily on paper.
In 2024, more than 2 million change requests were submitted on paper. CRA said that represented 80% of all requests.
The online service is available through CRA account and ReFILE. CRA said more than 280,000 individuals had already used the online change service in 2025.
Online requests can cover common updates such as adding slips or claiming the Disability Tax Credit.
CRA said online requests generally produce a notice of reassessment and any refund faster than a paper request.
The administrative point is simple but important. After a return is filed, a missing slip, missed credit, or changed information does not necessarily require paper correspondence. For many taxpayers, online adjustment tools can shorten the time between discovering an error and receiving a reassessment.
