Statistics Canada released updated 2025 data for the Infrastructure Economic Account on June 12, 2026.
The update covers estimates for infrastructure investment, infrastructure stock, remaining useful service life, and the economic and environmental impacts associated with infrastructure activity.
Statistics Canada said the estimates are consistent with the first-quarter 2026 release of the Income and Expenditure Accounts, which matters because infrastructure data are tied into the broader national accounts framework.
The release also updates estimates of greenhouse gas emissions attributable to infrastructure investment in Canada. Statistics Canada said those estimates include direct and indirect emissions from the Canadian supply chain and are compiled as part of the Physical Flow Accounts under the United Nations System of Environmental-Economic Accounting.
The agency cautioned that these physical-flow estimates differ from Canada's official national greenhouse gas inventory published by Environment and Climate Change Canada.
