Department of Finance Canada announced an additional $19.8 million over four years to help create more $10-a-day child care spaces in Nova Scotia.
Budget 2024 also included a $1 billion Child Care Expansion Loan Program for public and not-for-profit child care providers to build new spaces and renovate existing centres.
The child-care infrastructure fund provides an additional $625 million to provinces and territories for not-for-profit child care spaces in underserved communities.
Across the country, over 750,000 kids are already benefiting from affordable, high-quality child care, with some families saving up to $14,300 per child, per year.
Taxpayers and businesses will need the final legal text, effective dates, and CRA or departmental guidance before applying the measure.
